EXCELLENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

Where does art meet science, and how can we get there? I created a ceramic vase that has an orifice for water drainage, and a small plate to collect excess water. It has an additional hole in one of the walls of the pot that allows for a drip irrigation system to be incorporated, with either a tube or (in my case) a flip-straw water bottle. In my AP Environmental Science class, we learned about degrees of tolerance for certain plants in relation to salinization of water using radish seeds as a sample, and thanks to this vase I created in pottery class, I achieved to make it aesthetic.

EXCELLENCE IN INNOVATION

When a child is born, approximately a week after birth, tests are run to ensure they are completely healthy. Infants are typically screened for a variety of disorders, including fatty acid oxidation disorders, amino acid and metabolism disorders, endocrine disorders, and hemoglobin disorders. Currently, there are numerous methods available for these tests in addition to genetic and viral testing. Methods for obtaining samples include saliva samples, urine samples, blood samples, tissue samples, and oral and throat swabs. While these methods are reliable, they are invasive and uncomfortable for infants to undergo.

In this lab we worked on miscible and imiscible mixtures, the video shown is an example of an imiscible mixture which means that the components don’t mix with eachother like oil and water.

Our task was to create a catapult or launching device that could throw a ball the farthest. My partner and I chose to create a catapult with pieces of wood and cardboard.

My problem initially was to find a proper way to create blender creatures in 3D. Anything would be ok wether it was a huge turtle or a cool map. I just wanted to be able to draw

In our semester 1 in AP Art, there was a project called "Art in public spaces," where our goal was to have people interact with our art pieces. I am in love with watercolor art because of the colors are able to blend and create infinite colors. I wanted students to look at my art, stop for a second and have a chance to appreciate nature surrounding them.

I created my app to facilitate the process of adopting cats for new care-takers. Using code.org's data I coded an app that matches the user's preferences to certain cat breeds based on their color and temperament. In each try, the cats that matches those preferences appear randomly so that users can get a variety of results that share the same qualities each time.

I built a catapult. The challenge I was presented with was to make a catapult that could launch a payload as far as it could. I did not want it to be too big, so I tried to make it as small as possible. I made it be able to launch as far as a big catapult because I put a lot of resistance on the arm, so when it is launched it snaps back rapidly.

In our semester 1 in AP Art, we had a project in mind, "Art in public spaces," where our goal was to have people interact with our art pieces. It took a lot of work to decide what to do to get students to interact with our art pieces; however, I brainstormed a piece drawn out with chalk.

Our problem was making a catapult that could throw a ball as far away as possible. We first researched on the topic and then modified a model to be able to use the materials at hand. We made a successful prototype which we were later going to dilate and create a human size version.

In the AP CSP class, we were learning how to program apps using javascript. In one of the projects that we were working on, I decided to make an app focused on ramen. The program's purpose is to provide the user with a wide variety of ramen according to their tastes.

In 2022, I visited Seoul, Korea with my family to see our other family members so, we went out uncle's house. He worked for Samsung and was head of technology section. So one day, I went to his office and it was lunch time so, all the workers started to research nearby restaurant because they always hesitated what to eat. As a result, I wanted to make an app of food selector to reduce the time of hesitating. So I used Javascript to create the app and data from code.org of various famous fast food restaurant.

Is there a machine or object that can be used to shoot an object from far away and with presicion?

I bult a catapult that was able to shoot objects pretty far away with a very good precision.

I looked for a youtube video to have some inspiration about how to build the base, built the overall structure of the catapult, and tried different variations in its structure until it was good enough. In the end, a very good catapult had been built.

We made a catapult that can go as far as possible. Our catapult has the power to throw far. And also we have techniche for it. Our problem was the wood was too weak then we upgraded and taped the wood to get stronger.

What's the best Ivy league University for me? My project helps students find the best Ivy University based on their personal preferences; the App is designed to give the best answer from all eight options for each different person.

I created an app to help english speakers practice their Spanish comprehension in regards to some verbs and animal names. The results are students being more familiar with the words and translations.

EXCELLENCE IN PERCEPTION

How does surrealist art affect your perception of reality? In this project i drew a surreal room, within the room you might find gravity defying objects, hidden people, trolls, stairs and more.

My project consists of a collection of Photographs I took using a Canon camera. For this project I took multiple pictures around the house of inanimate objects using different photography techniques.

My app allows the user to find their ideal product. I created a function which matches the user with a specific moisturizer or cleanser depending on their skin concerns.

In my Computer Science class, we had to design and create an app using functions and on-event buttons. Therefore, I decided to create one that helps people choose where to go on vacation by asking about their company and preferred climate. After working during class and outside, I finished my project.

The main question I was trying to solve was if I could make a machine of sorts with simple materials that would allow me to launch something with great precision and speed. My solution was to come with a couple of my friends and by looking at some designs and we ended up making a couple of catapults to serve this purpose.

EXCELLENCE IN DESIGN

The project was one assigned to me during Engineering Design class.

It was more of a unit on launchers, which a rubber band-based launcher and then a catapult.

Both designs were successful, with much space to improve.

This was a project from my art class where we had to take an old meaningful photograph from history and take another modern picture and then weave them together. I weaved together a picture of a woman with a gun over her shoulder with a picture of a classmate with a backpack over hers.

The parallel showed the difference of how we arm ourselves in the past versus the present, with guns or knowledge.

The app's main purpose is to inform people about the U.S presidents. In the app, the user can choose whether they want to know about the which president was in charge in the year they chose and also see the order of presidents. For example, if you want to know who the first president of the U.S was, you click the dropdown and choose the number 1, this will output the name in a text box below. Or you can also choose a year and the president who was in charge will appear in the text box below.

When presented with a set budget, how do people practice financial responsibility?

In my coding project, I created an app where people would be given a certain amount of money and they had to go shopping with it.

At the end of the app, it would tell the user if they spent below or above the budget.

EXCELLENCE IN SUSTAINABILITY

Our problem was how polluted the earth was because of human waste. So from there, our challenge was how to create a sustainable school. Our main job was to design the school given our specific environment/country. (Mongolia in our case) In order to express our thinking, we built a 3D model of our school and created a presentation which showcases its sustainability.

My question was, how can I incorporate 3D with my own digital art? So, I used this app called mental canvas that allows you to have a 3D design connecting it with your drawing to make it more interesting and fun to watch. I technically drew a claw machine game. But, it leads to a mystery box, which is a "strawberry box", since I started to like strawberries.

EXCELLENCE IN DIGITAL ANIMATION AND GRAPHIC DESIGN

What would the world look like if militaries started using robot soldiers like the Terminators to fight wars for them? One of the most hotly debated topics is whether governments and corporations should invest in robot soldiers. I did a research project about that discusses the costs and benefits of robot soldiers, expressed through an engaging video that combines research with entertainment .

I created a Unity virtual reality mini-golf game. I created the VR headset and implemented the code for it. I created a landscape for the mini golf, as well as attached an arduino and gyroscope to a physical putter to send exact feedback to the putter in the game. I also created an interface where the screen shows how many shots have been taken per hole, and teleports the character to the next hole after the ball goes in.

While there are many resources that can be used to aid in choosing a name, most lacked the features that were most important to me. For that reason, I made my own app that filters through a name database according to factors that I found most important when choosing a name (Mr. Shelden, you know what I'm talking about). The result was a minimalistic app that filters according to three factors and can be used repeatedly to find a good name.

The main theme of this project was being able to use the concepts of STEAM and at the same time getting to learn the functions of Blender with 3D modeling. Rather than having to focus on creating a simple output out of nowhere, I wanted to make it more complex with explaining the connections on the concepts I used and meanings behind each component of my work. Thus, my final product depicts a surreal sculpture of a snake and an oasis of my subconscious in its mouth.

EXCELLENCE IN CULTURAL ARTWORK

The project focuses solely on the theme of a Traditional Korean House. It depicts the house against a night background with a bright moon, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Colorful butterflies with mysterious lights add to the enchanting ambiance. Furthermore,  a Japanese apricot flower (blossom) is included in the left corner of the drawing, also adorned with unknown lights. The aim is to showcase the beauty and allure of Korean traditional architecture and its cultural significance.

One day I had a shower thought. What if presidents had access to Tinder, more specifically What if older US presidents had access to Tinder? That's why when we were asked in our AP CSP class to work on a project, I decided to team up with L. in order to construct the best possible app possible.

We created a timer app that would play a sound and a visual when the designated time the user has inputted is up. We had to think of 3 different types of code for this project; the visual code, the timer code, and the sound code, with a separate function for each.

In this project, my partner and I decided to create a launching device, but in a creative way, and analyze the forces behind it.

A saying says that math exists in everything. I decided to explore the hidden secrets of the right triangle and try to put the pieces together to form a masterpiece of art. I made a unique showpiece combining both mathematical calculations and elements of art. I used the Pythagorean Theorem to construct right triangles in a spiral, and decorated in and around them. In the end I created a Pythagorean spiral that resembled an ammonite and had  an intricate design.

EXCELLENCE IN 3D MODELING

Ever since I've found the perfect 3D modeling software called Blender, my quest has been to explore its different functionalities, as a pastime, but also to fulfill my dreams of learning CGI for the film-making passion that I have. This time, I wanted to test my cumulative skills for Blender by creating a large-scale nonentity, with some extra background components, to create a fully rendered image.

EXCELLENCE IN DIGITAL ANIMATION

How does technology bring art to life? For example, animating works of art creates as visual paragon. We created a stop motion video about the legend of the Yerba Mate by using a visual arts studio app to film hundreds of scenes of silhouettes moving and string them together for a stunning video. We experienced the thrill of producing movies and the complicated process of shooting films.
