PROJECT SUMMARY

The app's main purpose is to inform people about the U.S presidents. In the app, the user can choose whether they want to know about the which president was in charge in the year they chose and also see the order of presidents. For example, if you want to know who the first president of the U.S was, you click the dropdown and choose the number 1, this will output the name in a text box below. Or you can also choose a year and the president who was in charge will appear in the text box below.

WHY?

The reason why I created this project is to inform people about U.S presidents. This is because often I used to wonder the order the presidents took charge of the U.S and the year they were in charge, so with this app I know that anyone who wants to can easily get informed. The app is very user friendly which means that anyone can easily get the information they want from it.

HOW?

When I first had the idea of my project, I decided to draw on paper a rough draft of how I wanted it to look. Once I worked enough on that, I decided that it was time to pass it onto my computer; when I did this I stumbled along a lot of problems. The issue was the coding, because there were many things that I had to figure along the way. Once I started getting the code and slowly understanding more, I added pictures to the app. In the end, it was a long process but I managed to finish it and I am very happy of how it turned out.

WHAT?

When I was working on the project, there were many times I wanted to give up and change my project to another topic, but instead I continued working on it and it worked out amazing. My prototype app was working to perfection and there were only few things that I ended changing. My app works with four buttons and two drop-downs; the app also has a list of the presidents and the years they were in charge that I took from code.org.

SO WHAT?

After I finished the app and had the final results, I felt so proud of myself for sticking with the same project and never gave up. I learned how to code better from it, for example I learned how to make a loop; I also learned how to perfect a if-else statement. Coding is very hard but I managed to pull through and create a project that I am proud of.

WHAT'S NEXT?

If I had the time, I would add to my project a new list that would be to tell the user how long each president was in charge. It would be a huge improvement because then you would't have to click each year to see when the president was in charge or not, but instead could see it all with one option. This is something that I am planing on doing later.

REFERENCES & ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

My information and ideas I mostly took from my classmate, she helped me throughout the whole process and she also edited a lot with me. I worked with her and we both put a lot of effort into it. The list of presidents we took from code.org and pictures from the internet.

JUDGES FEEDBACK

I think this is a fanstic project because it is very informative about US presidents and because during the process you learned a valuable skill such as coding.  I wonder if you could provide more information about each president within this application, such as what were their singificant contributions or greatest negatives.
