PROJECT SUMMARY
In our semester 1 in AP Art, we had a project in mind, "Art in public spaces," where our goal was to have people interact with our art pieces. It took a lot of work to decide what to do to get students to interact with our art pieces; however, I brainstormed a piece drawn out with chalk.
WHY?
I decided to use chalk to not mess with any parts of nature and create art that could be easily cleaned without ruining the beauty of our school.
HOW?
The prototype I made was a sketch using watercolor to choose which colors were complementary and could stand out as a striking colors.
WHAT?
I found out that chalk is very pretty on rock grounds, and it was a way to interact with my inner child once again; I also made the piece better during the process and the first steps of a possible engineering project.
SO WHAT?
The project concluded that a simple art piece, like using chalk, can get people to stop and appreciate what is around them. I realized this when many students would stop by and ask what I was doing and if they could help.
WHAT'S NEXT?
What I could've done differently is probably made various chalk pieces so it would be a collage of art pieces; however, with the given time, it was hard to do so.
REFERENCES & ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
My ideas were inspired by other classmates who were also part of the project; people who were part of this project were D. and M., and other people who also helped from freshman and sophomore years.
JUDGES FEEDBACK
I really like the idea behind this project! This is a nice way for people to stop and take in their surrounding in a pleasureable way, which many people simply do not do. I also like how you chose a method that would not be harmful to the environment . I wonder if there is a way that you could further expand on this concept of having people stop and take in their surrounding more frequently and in an educational way.
