PROJECT SUMMARY

Our problem was how polluted the earth was because of human waste. So from there, our challenge was how to create a sustainable school. Our main job was to design the school given our specific environment/country. (Mongolia in our case) In order to express our thinking, we built a 3D model of our school and created a presentation which showcases its sustainability.

WHY?

We did this project for an international steam conference held in Uruguay that revolved in the importance of sustainability and protection of the environment. Our problem given was how human creates too much waste in our daily life which concludes to a destruction of the environment. To improve this situation, we created the school to teach the importance of sustainability through education.

HOW?

We created this project by first discussing and investigating the problems our country faced. Later made a presentation to summarise  our main goals that helped us make our 3D school model.

WHAT?

By doing this project, we were able to learn more about our given country Mongolia, and its environmental problems it faced.  We obtained a better knowledge of sustainable tools and different types of strategy used in order to save as much of human waste.

SO WHAT?

Our school model and presentation is important because it shows that building something with sustainable tools isn't impossible. Yes, it takes a lot of effort and time though by making this project, we were able to understand the importance of maintaining a better environment.

WHAT'S NEXT?

To extend our project, we could have consulted an expert in engineering and sustainability. We also could have interview a person living in Mongolia about problems they faced in their daily life because to take in consider in our project.

REFERENCES & ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

We got this idea and project by the SAAC members from the Steam conference held in Uruguay. We want to thank the STEAM staff, our group members from different parts of the world, Mr. Tyler and Ms. Nicole.

JUDGES FEEDBACK

Sustainabilty and environmentalism are huge topics of discussion for governments all around the world now. Everyone is working very hard to save the planet and I believe your idea of schools that promote this would be a fantastic idea. Your idea follows a similar model to those in Bali and New Zealand where children are included in keeping their school and surrounding area safe, clean and sustainable. Who would fund a school like this? Would it be private or public?
