PROJECT SUMMARY
Our task was to create a catapult or launching device that could throw a ball the farthest. My partner and I chose to create a catapult with pieces of wood and cardboard.
WHY?
We created this project because we thought that creating a strong catapult would help us achieve our goal the best. We were trying to create a device strong and powerful enough to through the ball the farthest across the room.
HOW?
To create our catapult we first looked at inspiration to have an idea of the base for it and what model would be the most beneficial. After deciding on a model, we started to gather our materials to create it.
WHAT?
We had great results. With really sttrong materials we found out we could through the ball the farthest and apply more pressure in our lauchin device to achieve even better results. As well, we learned to create a way to make our results the most consistent possible.
SO WHAT?
Our results are important because they made us understand the importance of having a strong base and materials to achieve better results. As well, we learned the significance of consistent results with our prototypes to make a good final product.
WHAT'S NEXT?
You can extend the project by trying to make a larger scale of it and see if the same mechanism would still work. If I were to make this, I would find out if a similar source of power would stilll work, and what could be better if we were to replace it.
REFERENCES & ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
We got our ideas from past models and the internet. I was able to accomplish this project with the help of my partner in this project.
JUDGES FEEDBACK
Your catapult design is simple but genius! The multi-layer cardboard base seems to work! We also liked that you included the idea of consistent results during your trial and protoype phase. We would love to see evidence of your statistics for launch distance, or trying different size or weight balls to catapult. Great job!
