PROJECT SUMMARY

The project focuses solely on the theme of a Traditional Korean House. It depicts the house against a night background with a bright moon, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Colorful butterflies with mysterious lights add to the enchanting ambiance. Furthermore, a Japanese apricot flower (blossom) is included in the left corner of the drawing, also adorned with unknown lights. The aim is to showcase the beauty and allure of Korean traditional architecture and its cultural significance.

WHY?

I did this project to celebrate and show the beauty and cultural heritage of traditional hanok (the traditional Korean house). The project was to evoke wonder and curiosity by blending traditional Korean aesthetics with elements of nature and mystery. Also, there was a purpose of artistic expression or a way to explore the interaction between architecture, nature, and symbols in Korean culture.

HOW?

Using the digital art software Procreate, I created a drawing featuring a Traditional Korean House, known as a hanok, as the central focus. I began by meticulously drawing the intricate details of the hanok before shifting my attention to the background. The background was carefully crafted to convey a nighttime atmosphere, with a bright moon casting an enchanting glow. I then added vibrant and mysterious elements such as colorful butterflies surrounded by ethereal lights. The process involved a deliberate sequence of drawing the hanok first and then creating the captivating backdrop to complement and enhance its presence.

WHAT?

The outcome of my drawing using Procreate exceeded my initial expectations. I observed that the night background I created effectively highlighted the Traditional Korean House (hanok) and enhanced the mysterious atmosphere of the composition. The contrast between the dark background and the illuminated hanok contributed to a visually striking and captivating result. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how the combination of elements worked together harmoniously to create the desired effect.

SO WHAT?

The positive results from my Procreate art project highlighted the effectiveness of my creative vision and execution skills in conveying the desired atmosphere and aesthetic. Surpassing my own expectations indicated growth and improvement in my artistic abilities. The project also showcased the effectiveness of using specific techniques, like the night background, to enhance the main subject, the Traditional Korean House (hanok). These findings provide valuable insights for future artistic endeavors, allowing me to refine my skills and artistic expression.

WHAT'S NEXT?

To extend my project, I could consider adding more details and creating different versions, such as a morning and evening rendition. By doing so, I can enhance the composition and offer a diverse range of atmospheres. Additionally, I want to focus on on architecture-related themes, continuing growing and exploring different architectural styles and elements.

REFERENCES & ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I drew inspiration from my Korean heritage while watching a traditional Korean drama. The captivating portrayal of the hanok (traditional Korean house) in the drama sparked a desire within me to create something related to it. This influence motivated me to embark on a project centered around the hanok, allowing me to express my appreciation for Korean culture and architecture.

This is a fantastic piece of art because it is aestentically pleasing and because it holds great significance to you because of your heritage. It's also an educational in that you explain and share a lot about traditional Korean architecture. I like what you identified is next, but I wonder if you could add something to the starry background or plants in the foreground that further ehances the Korean theme.
